How Can Limousines Get Away With People Drinking In A Car And Tinted Windows No Seat Belts Etc.?

I used to work for a charter bus and limousine company. and the reason is because the driver has a specialized license to drive such a vehicle. He or she is trained to handle any problems that arise in or around that vehicle. Now it depends on the laws in your state but here you don’t have to wear your seat belts in the rear of any vehicle and the windows in the rear of any vehicle can be as dark as you like. As far as the alcohol goes….there is a barrier wall between the driver and passengers which has a window so the driver is cut away from the environment in the back in the laws eyes.

In some states, vehicles for hire, such as limos, taxis, charter buses and such, passengers are exempt from the open container laws that prohibit drinking in other vehicles.
I used to train taxi drivers in California. In that state, a passenger in the BACK seat could legally drink. I warned the drivers that if they had a passenger consuming alcohol, that after the passenger left, they should check the back seat for open containers. Without a passenger, if the driver was later stopped and the container found, the driver MIGHT face an open container citation.

Limos do have seat-belts………not required but they do for liability reasons..
Standard limo regulations require seat belts in the seats that face forward and backward.
In other words, if your limo has a seat all the way up front by the driver that puts your back against the partition… it has to have seat belts. along with the seats that are right by the doors.
The long seats down the entire stretch of the limo MAY have seat belts, but are not required by law.

First of all the driver’s windows aren’t tinted and there’s always a partition between the passenger compartment and the driver. The driver also has a special license and the limo is registered to carry passengers. People don’t wear seat belts on buses either.

get away with? IT’s called a livery license, hence like taking a bus or cab, or train, someone is being paid to drive the public and what the public does in the car does not have a bearing on the driver’s license or laws to that driver personally. Get away with? haha,

because that is the law
