What Can I Do During My Wedding To Make It Unique And Personal?
I really want everyone to have a good time at my wedding, I want it to be unique and personal. The ceremony will be pretty ordinary, we will have a soloist and a poem read that a friend wrote about us, we will honor our parents, before traditional vows we will say our personal ones, and we will be doing a unity candle. We are having a church wedding. I was thinking our guest can blow bubbles as we are walking out of the church and outside as we’re going to the limo..some guest can release butterflies. I think this will be nice, but I’m not sure. During the reception I don’t want the guest to be bored. I was thinking about playing a couple of games for some of the time..to break the dancing up and to interact more with our guest. Who really wants to dance for 4 hours straight. What types of things can I do? Also what can we include throughout the day to make it more personal and creative?

I’m against bubbles because they’re usually more trouble than they’re worth, and I’d be worried about them staining the gowns – you never know with the fabrics how they’ll react. Plus the bubbles they have for weddings are usually in little bottles that are a pain for guests.
And ditto on the butterflies. Not only do you run the risk of releasing non native species into the area, but there’s something creepy about opening a box and finding a dead butterfly inside. Again, far more trouble than they’re worth.http://www.naba.org/weddings.html
What about using ribbon wands? They make for a neat picture and there’s nothing to clean up.
One of the things I wished we did after our ceremony was to have as many guests clustered behind us for a picture. I’ve seen other brides do this and I loved the look of the bride and groom standing in front of all the guests, but this was an idea that ended up slipping through the cracks for us.
My advice would be to personalize any parts of the ceremony that you can. We wrote our own vows and some of the prayers, plus the intentions (we had a catholic mass).
For the reception, what about the Martha Stewart candy buffet or confection bar? This consists of a variety of candies or treats placed in varied sizes of glass containers and grouped on a table. A wooden scoop or pretty silver spoon in each container allows guests to fill small boxes or bags as take-home favors.
I found this website to have alot of unique ideas:http://www.westerncoweddings.com/art_wda…
DON’T let the URL name scare you off! It’s not western or a cow wedding site!
I have picked a few things off the over 80 unique ideas list and have found a way to include them in my own event!
You might want to look at it and see if anything would be fitting for you!
~Congrats!~
Dont go too traditional, or put a bit of a spin on tradition. I LOVED that Idea of tango-ing down the aisle!
Walk down the aisle to some different music besides “Here Comes the Bride”
Wear your favourite colour instead of white
The church I’ll be getting married in and the minister are fairly relaxed so apart from the actual vows, friends and family members of both mine and my future hubbys will be conducting the majority of the ceremony for us. This may work for you too depending on where the ceremony will take place.
There will be no formal, sit-down reception, we are having a cocktail party
All of your ideas sound good. You may not want to play games. Maybe have a slideshow, the longet married couples dance. You will also have your traditional reception activities as fillers as well.
You could have a cookie table at your reception. It is an Italian tradition. The brides mother, grandmothers, and aunts all make homemade cookies. They are arranged attractively on glass or silver trays at the reception. People snack on them before the bride and groom arrive and for the rest of the evening. You also have cookie bags available for them to take cookies home, too. You need lots of cookies. I think you figure 4 per person. Make them fairly small so people can sample quite a few. The cookie bags are made especially for cookies, not a little plastic bag. They are made out of a paper that is similar to a wrapping paper. You don’t need to be Italian…but everyone will talk about it for years! Remember to make lots of different kinds. Your guests will just love it! If the reception is at a hotel, make sure they will allow you to bring them in.
SPICE IT UP A BIT …when doing the traditional walk down the isle…..have the music stop, then all the sudden tango music plays and the guy walking you down the aisle whips out a rose and puts it in his mouth and you and him start to tango down the isle, then eventually go back to normal walk when you are close to preacher. My sister did this at her wedding, and everyone loved it! It definatly set a fun atmosphere at her wedding
